Let Them Eat Cake!
"Paperdoll Book" media, Gouache
here's marie's bedroom!!!! The actual piece has all these accesories as removable with magnets so she can actually 'try them on'! This is part of my thesis; this one definately took the longest of all hte females I decided to focus on.
"Sacagawea Paperdoll" sample for thesis! This is Sacagawea during her journey as a guide to Lewis and Clark. Didn't feel like adding little Jean Baptiste (her son) to this peice, although his is in other I did for the project. The final has two outfits hanging in the background on the clothesline that she can wear. The project is watercolor with brown ink and a bit of white acrylic in the end for snow. I actually did a ton of research on her before beginning the project, and I must say she by far exceeded my expectations for what an incredible 16yr old girl she was! Believe it or not, I actually had my mom pose for her, since she was the only female handy to pose while i was back in kansas for the weekend. The weather was in my favor that weekend, and when it started to snow the most beautiful big snowflakes my mom and i ran over to our neighbor Dr. Fleske's backyard to snap reference pics.
