I actually did this piece 2 years ago. We had to choose any book to do a cover for, and I found this one tucked away at the book store, and knew it would lend itself to an interesting illustration. I also had a feeling it was going to become a very popular series, but I never imagined it would become as famous as it has with its own tv series and everything. Merci beacuoup to Virginia and Robyn to posing for this!!!
Here I created my own version of the room where Jane wrote masterpieces such as "Pride and Prejudice" and "Emma." Most of the bedrooms I tried to stay historically accurate to what is known about these women's rooms, but sometimes I used artistic liscense to make them work for my magnet paper doll world. Jane Austen was the 4th and last woman I had time to do in time for the Senior Show. In the actual toy, herself, the dresses, bonnet, cat, umbrella, books, and writing utencils all are magnets that can be rearranged for play.
This is the final version of Cleopatra's Room I made for senior Thesis. The room itself was mounted on sheets of steel and designed to stand up on its own to be a backdrop for doll, outfits, and accesories which were printed on magnets. So you can actually move Cleopatra around the room and place the different outifts on her. (the cheetah moves around the room too).
